It took me until my third pregnancy to realize how very little we do as a society as far as mothering the mother during pregnancy and birth, and ESPECIALLY postpartum. All gifts and favors proffered were very appreciated, don't get me wrong, but none of it had to do with ME. Endless gifts for the baby, from physical care to emotional wellness to clothes to last half a lifetime, and yet it was me, the mother, the womban, who was passing through a rite of womanhood that required grace and gentleness and growth for MYSELF.
Every part of ourselves is connected - mind, body, spirit. For creation, for labor and birth, and for postpartum, all our facets must be nurtured if we are to facilitate our transition into motherhood and remain whole and holy - this requires more than diaper pails and kitschy onesies. Our mission is Better Woman + Better Earth, and this very much includes women in the throes of procreation.
For us to expand to our full potential as the heart-center of the home, we must honor a self-care practice that fills our cup to the brim (because you can't pour from an empty one.) When we model self-care for ourselves, our children will learn how to model it, as well.
Here is our list of 7 beautiful gifts for a pregnancy and postpartum

Long has it been common knowledge (and light-hearted joke fodder) that a woman's emotions during pregnancy can have some hairpin turns and can flip like a switch from joy to anxiety to tears to laughter and back. And of course, with motherhood come a whole new host of feelings and swings. Breathing helps. So do the Calm Drops from Calm-A-Mama. They also have Focus Drops (because pregnancy brain is real) Happy Drops for a little pick-me-up when the blues creep in, and Teeth-and-Tummy Drops for fussy bellies. Pocket remedies can be a mama's best friend, especially when she's the one needing a little care. Find them HERE.
In so many cultures, it is custom for the new mother to spend the first month or forty days postpartum at rest, bonding with her new baby, being cared for by her village, and nourishing her body to restore her strength. In a society in which women are pushed and guilted into feeling the need to 'bounce back' immediately after baby, women so often feel lonely and lost in the first few months postpartum, without proper care for themselves in the midst of caring for their new babe. This book is filled with nourishing recipes full of warmth and comfort, along with advice and ideas on how to both establish boundaries AND ask for help and build a support system. It is beauty-full and will warm her and comfort her during one of the most vulnerable and powerful seasons of her life. Find it HERE.
Self-massage is one of the easiest, quickest forms of self-care a woman can practice leading up to the birth of a child. So that makes body oil a must-have for a stretching belly. It nourishes the skin and with the right blend of ingredients, may help with the look of the skin, prevent or decrease itchiness, all-the-while leaves you feeling like a queen.

Our Neroli + Frankincense Body Oil was created with pregnancy in mind. Find it HERE.
We've also got Jasmine + Sandalwood which is beautifully heart-opening and sensual for the postpartum woman (not intended for use during pregnancy) and Lavender + Ylang Ylang (safe for pregnancy and postpartum) which is perfect to help with one's nighttime ritual in preparation of a good night's sleep. Ok, so we have a bonus, here. A soothing and aromatic soak in the tub with a warm mug of tea and a luxurious body oil serves more than just the purpose of physical cleansing and hydration. An expecting WOMBan's body is growing and changing and supporting a whole other human within it, and is understandably sore and achey, deserving of a good relaxing soak and uplifting tea completed with self-massage. Even more, finding moments of quiet stillness in which to meditate and introspect, especially if this is not the first baby, can be very difficult to obtain. Throw in a crystal for energy and grounding, and you have the perfect gift for any mama you love (crystals come when you build-your-own-care-package!).
Build your own care package or choose one we've curated. With the gift of a pregnancy-safe bath salt, tea and body oil can serve as a reminder to find moments to herself, to honor her need for stillness and self-care. Find them HERE.
